Reminder Letter for Inactive Subscribers – 5 Rules, 3 Ideas

Dog!Hey guys,

Hope you’re doing great! We all have inactive subscribers on our lists. There’s nothing bad about it and you still have 2 options – leave them alone or re-engage and have them back on your list (I mean the active part of the list). Just like in a real life, sometimes it’s hard to start a conversation with a person you haven’t talked to for a long time, and email marketing conversation starts with a Subject Line and the email message. That’s why I would like to provide you with few tips on how to create a reminder letter for all of your inactive subscribers.

First-off, let’s set the rules for our subject lines:

1. Completely different from all the other subject lines of yours

2. Simple and honest

3.  Written in a conversational style

4. Not trying to sell something or push

5. Can contain questions

The idea is to remind your subscriber of you and let him choose. Don’t try to sell something or offer millions of discounts. Respect your subscriber and he will probably respect your reminder. There are few question you may ask your inactive subscriber:

1. Is content still relevant? – There is always a probability that a subscriber has changed his occupation and is not interested in your content any more.

2. Is email frequency good for you? – Maybe your inactive subscriber would be happy to receive and understand 1 newsletter full of tips, tricks and offers per week, not 3…

3. Is this the right channel to reach you? - Many email subscribers move to social media pages, and social fans and followers become subscribers. That’s why it’s extremely important to choose the right channel to reach each subscriber. Maybe your inactive email subscriber is a king-of-the-hill among his friends on Facebook or Twitter :)

Bringing Dead Email Subscribers to Life – 3 Strategies

dead subscriberHey guys,

Hope you’re doing great! We all know how each subscriber is important and how it’s sad to find “dead” (inactive) subscribers on your list. Some email marketers just delete them from the list, it’s not so bad, but it’s always possible to bring some of inactive subscribers to life and increase your list of active recipients. We do not support deleting inactive subscribers as it’s always worth bringing them back to your list. I would like to provide you with 3 strategies on reviving your dead subscribers. Let’s start!

Strategy 1. The Cut-off.

This is simple and straight strategy. All you need to do is to send the notification to all your inactive subscribers and ask them to join your list once again. Also mention that they will miss all your great content and offers and bonuses unless they click a link and re-join your list. This allows to easily determine most active subscribers among the dead ones :)

Strategy 2. The Survey.

Survey is a great tool, I still think that it’s extremely underestimated. People love survey, because we all believe our opinion matters and someone really cares about it. Surveys have two good sides – first on is that they remind your subscriber that he’s inactive and is missing all the interesting stuff out, second – if they realize that they are inactive and want to unsubscribe you will receive a valuable input on what was wrong with your content or approach and why they unsubscribed.

Strategy 3. The Offer.

This is my favorite one. This is the easiest and best-working strategy, but only if you follow one rule – you need to provide each inactive subscriber with the right offer. What does it mean? We all are different, so are our needs and wishes. You need to find the best free offer (bonus, discount, etc) for each and every of your inactive subscriber. Here few examples:

If your subscribers have shown a tendency to prize information, then the offer of a free e-book download, a report, whitepaper, guide, or other in-depth document might bring them back to the fold. However, if your subscribers are more interactive, offer a free game, video, or app.And if your company has a location near your subscribers, set up a special event and provide them with free tickets.

Notifications to dead subscribers can be automatically sent with the help of Email Autoresponder or Email Sending software

5 Easy Tips on Engaging Your Email Subscribers

interested-cat-interestHey  guys,

Hope you’re doing great! As we all know large companies have marketing departments that are capable of boosting all marketing activities, including an email marketing. This article is for small and medium businesses that can’t afford a separate department but still want to dominate email marketing. If you’re among them, then these 5 tips on subscriber engagement are right for you. These tips are good to start with if you plan to develop your email campaigns and make your corporate style better. Let’s start!

1. Have a subscription form on every page. Some websites have subscription forms on main page only, and that’s really sad. If your main traffic source is search engines then more than a half of all hits are driven to secondary pages. Just imagine how many subscriptions you lost. That’s why it’s good to have a subscription form built in a header or in a left/right sidebar – these parts of the website are shown on each and every page.

2. Subject line style. Yeah, you should “design” your subject line so it looks familiar to your recipients. Think of a unique style that can be used for all your mailings. You should include your name or company’s name or website name and then add the message to the subject line. It could be a custom word or something else you add to your subject line. 3. Unique design. Corporate style remains corporate style and to make it stable you should create a custom and unique template for all your emails. This will make easier for subscribers to recognize you and to pay more attention to your mailings. Make sure your template is designed in corporate colors and forms. It’s also good to use some design elements from your website – for example, a header, footer, sidebar, menu. etc.

4. Schedule. Timing is extremely important part of email marketing and it’s good to analyze your open rates and click-throughs to determine what is the best day and time to send your emails. This will make your subscribers wait for another dose from you. If you follow scheduling technique then don’t brake your “promise” and deliver on time.

5. Offer more subscriptions. Always provide your subscribers with few subscription options – some people are more active in social networks rather than on email, some prefer to receive RSS-updates. That’s why it’s so important to increase your presence and offer subscription variations. You can simply add social widgets to your email that will lead to your fan pages, groups and channels.

Tips 2-5 can be easily achieved by using email marketing software.
